From the writer/director: I was inspired to write “Still Awake” while listening to a Conan O’Brien podcast interview. (Interestingly, Conan is the only person still hosting a late-night show who was also doing it 21 years ago.) He was talking about what it was like to be a late-night comedian during 9/11. When I heard that, it was so compelling and interesting that I couldn’t get it out of my head. I thought, “What would it be like for a late-night show host and his team to grapple with their purpose and livelihood during national tragedy?”
“Still Awake" is a 90-minute dramedy about an ambitious late-night host with a sputtering career who must take momentous action for his show — and country — in the wake of the terrorist attacks on 9/11.
